Flying cars that make a scene late last year, finally got permission to fly from the Federal Aviation Administration (Federal Aviation Administration / FAA) U.S. Department of Transportation. With this permission, the car was named Terrafugia Transition to begin production on its commercial model.

However, before being sold to the public, the FAA requires some changes to the cockpit for safety Terrafugia driver who was also the pilot of this flying car. In addition, the motorist must have a license to fly sport. The driver or pilot can get this license after undergoing 20 hours of flight training.

Terrafugia CEO Carl Dietrich, said that this is a breakthrough in the world of personal mobility. "The journey now becomes an integrated, starting from the ground directly on the air. That's what researchers dreamed of flight since 1918," he said.

The plan, flying cars that will be released to the market in 2011 will be priced approximately 194,000 dollars, or USD 1.78 billion. In the air, Terrafugia can fly up to 115 mph, or about 450 miles per hour. The wings on the flying car could be folded so that can be stored in a standard garage.

Flying car was designed to take off and land at local airports and driving on the road anywhere. The transformation from plane to car to take the pilot is less than 30 seconds.

Terrafugia released into the market will be equipped with additional security features, like airbags, protecting the cockpit and also a vacuum energy absorber.

This flying car developed a graduate of MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology). Until now, Terrafugia can only carry one pilot and one passenger.
